Dr. Dean R. Yates, owner of Carthage Veterinary Hospital is a
native of Panola County graduating from Carthage High School in
1979. He is a 1988 graduate of Texas A & M College of
Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Yates has owned and operated Carthage
Veterinary Hospital since 1989. His special interest is small animal
internal medicine. His hobbies include hunting, show cattle, and
registered Angus cattle. He has four children, Cassie, Eric, Jessica,
Caroline and Granddaughter Emery.

Shawntel is our large animal technician and is in charge of the City of Carthage and
Panola County Pound. She is the loving mother of two beautiful girls, and enjoys
Rodeoing, watching her girls compete in 4-H and FFA events, and is an active
member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Jaclyn Callaghan attended Louisiana State University in
Baton Rouge where she majored in Animal Science. While in
Baton Rouge she worked at a large multi-doctor practice for
3 years. In May 2006 Jaclyn relocated to the Carthage area,
and shortly after her move here she joined our staff as a
veterinary technician. Jaclyn enjoys raising and competing in
dog shows with her beloved Australian Shepherds as well as
handling different breeds for other people.

Jessica is a senior at Stephen F. Austin University where she majors
in Fashion Merchandising, and is the daughter of Dr. Yates and
Miriam Yates. Jessica has been helping out in the clinic for as long
as she can remember, and when she can get away she is always
more than happy to help out. She enjoys her family and her cats
Bullet and Daisy.

Caroline is a student at Panola College, and is the youngest daughter of
Dr. Yates and Miriam Yates. She is currently working part time as a
veterinary assistant, when she is not attending class. Caroline enjoys
going to concerts and spending time with family and friends, and enjoys
all animals as long as they don't bite her!

Stacy joined our team in 2010 as a veterinary technician. She attended
Bossier Parish Community College, and she has been a veterinary
technician for 3 years. But she has been working in the animal care
industry since 2001. Stacy is also the loving mother of one boy, one
dog, and one cat.

Liz is our excellent resident groomer, with 20 years experience.
She grooms here Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday by
appointment. Liz is the loving mother of three beautiful girls
and grandmother to three. Horseback and bicycle riding and
hiking are just a few of the hobbies that she enjoys doing in her
spare time.
